From d25a51bd32b75707401ee7c231b5c9585db982bf Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Claude Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2026 01:23:14 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Add comprehensive testing infrastructure: visual snapshots, unit, property, and theme tests Introduces a multi-layered testing strategy for the libcosmic widget toolkit: - Visual snapshot testing: Renders widgets via tiny-skia software renderer and compares pixel output against reference PNGs. Generates diff images on failure. Covers containers, dividers, text styles, progress bars, and layouts. - Widget unit tests: Thorough behavioral tests for segmented button model (selection, ordering, data storage, enable/disable, closable, indent), calendar model (month navigation, year wrapping, date selection, grid layout), spin button (clamping, increment/decrement, float support), and color picker. - Property-based tests (proptest): Randomized input testing for spin button bounds invariants, calendar first-day-of-week correctness, segmented model length/clear/toggle invariants, and theme spacing monotonicity. - Theme consistency tests: Validates all four theme variants (dark, light, high-contrast dark/light) have valid spacing, corner radii ordering, non-zero-alpha colors, visible text-on-background, and RON round-trip serialization. - Expanded inline tests: 16 new spin_button unit tests covering increment, decrement, clamping, float types, and constructor value bounds. - CI integration: New visual-tests job runs snapshot, theme, property, and widget tests with artifact upload on failure for snapshot diffs. https://claude.ai/code/session_01P3WLXMif9wmNXbWDo5FhRQ --- .github/workflows/ci.yml | 50 ++ Cargo.toml | 4 + src/widget/spin_button.rs | 94 ++- tests/property_tests.rs | 258 ++++++++ tests/snapshot_harness/mod.rs | 355 +++++++++++ tests/snapshots/column_layout.png | Bin 0 -> 3092 bytes tests/snapshots/container_with_background.png | Bin 0 -> 2680 bytes tests/snapshots/dark_theme_container.png | Bin 0 -> 2172 bytes tests/snapshots/divider_heavy.png | Bin 0 -> 2977 bytes tests/snapshots/divider_horizontal.png | Bin 0 -> 2929 bytes tests/snapshots/nested_containers.png | Bin 0 -> 4726 bytes tests/snapshots/progress_bar_states.png | Bin 0 -> 2423 bytes tests/snapshots/row_layout.png | Bin 0 -> 2759 bytes tests/snapshots/text_styles.png | Bin 0 -> 10445 bytes tests/theme_tests.rs | 291 +++++++++ tests/visual_tests.rs | 183 ++++++ tests/widget_unit_tests.rs | 555 ++++++++++++++++++ 17 files changed, 1788 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) create mode 100644 tests/property_tests.rs create mode 100644 tests/snapshot_harness/mod.rs create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/column_layout.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/container_with_background.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/dark_theme_container.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/divider_heavy.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/divider_horizontal.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/nested_containers.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/progress_bar_states.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/row_layout.png create mode 100644 tests/snapshots/text_styles.png create mode 100644 tests/theme_tests.rs create mode 100644 tests/visual_tests.rs create mode 100644 tests/widget_unit_tests.rs diff --git a/.github/workflows/ci.yml b/.github/workflows/ci.yml index 50a62a50..1dc86d87 100644 --- a/.github/workflows/ci.yml +++ b/.github/workflows/ci.yml @@ -70,6 +70,56 @@ jobs: env: RUST_BACKTRACE: full + visual-tests: + needs: + - format + runs-on: ubuntu-22.04 + steps: + - name: Checkout sources + uses: actions/checkout@v3 + with: + submodules: recursive + - name: Get date for registry cache + id: date + run: echo "::set-output name=date::$(date +'%Y-%m-%d')" + - name: Cargo registry cache + uses: actions/cache@v3 + with: + path: | + ~/.cargo/registry/index + ~/.cargo/registry/cache + ~/.cargo/git + key: ${{ runner.os }}-cargo-registry-visual-${{ steps.date.outputs.date }} + restore-keys: ${{ runner.os }}-cargo-registry-visual- + - name: System dependencies + run: sudo apt-get update;
